We are the parents of a child with autism. We have struggled to find and keep reliable ABA services for our son for several years. We decided the best option for our son was to equip ourselves with the knowledge and skills necessary to care for, teach, and understand him. We hope by working in this field we can continue to not only help our son, but also help others on the spectrum reach their fullest potential.
I have been teaching our son language, academic, and life skills using the teaching methods of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) for 13 years. Additionally, I have over 4 years of experience working with individuals with autism and other disorders, ages 3-50 and covering a wide range of needs.
My educational background includes an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction: Autism Spectrum Disorders through Arizona State University, an M.S. in Psychology through Walden University, and a Graduate Certificate in Behavioral Intervention in Autism through the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
I am a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and as such I utilize scientific methods in treatment and follow ethical guidelines as required by the BACB.
In addition to teaching our son, I have taught in the Omaha Public School District for thirteen years. I have experience teaching PreK - 8th grade in the subjects of reading, information literacy, technology skills, and introduction to careers. I have collaborated with classroom teachers to integrate technology and information literacy into the science and geography curriculum. My classrooms, computer lab and library have been places of learning for numerous students on the autism spectrum.
My educational background includes a B.S. in Secondary Education (Earth Science & Geography), an M.S. Reading Specialist endorsement (K-12), a School Library endorsement (K-12) all through theUniversity of Nebraska at Omaha, an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction: Applied Behavior Analysis through Arizona State University, and an Ed.S. in Teacher Leadership through Walden University.
I have completed the coursework to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). I am in the process of completing my required practicum hours.
